My son is appearing Final yr. BVA (Visual Ars) with Painting. Should he go for Animation or continue further studies in Painting? Which career will be more rewarding for him? Please let me know the preferred institutes and course expenses.

If other options are there please suggest.

Hello Mr. Sudhir,

Both painting and animation has good opportunities in the job market. It really depends on the interests of your son. Painting industry requires more expertise and also is more rewarding the artist is really able to mark his signature well and is hardworking, while animation industry today is more software oriented (much different from what your son must be doing now in BVA) and your son might not be interested in accepting this change from a more tactile colorful world of painting to hardcore software based creative work. However, animation industry has space for even medium level talent and everyone is able to find some work, though not guaranteeing good salary. Painting on the other hand is glamorous field - there are various options like tying up with interior designers and doing commissioned works for paintings/murals etc. Many BVA painting students also opt for a short interior design course or sometimes a full time masters course in interior design after BVA to merge their interests in painting while creating a market for it themselves!

Any further questions are welcomed. All the best!
