I have done my Master of Computer Application from Nirma University, Ahmedabad and currently working as lecturer in Ahmedabad. I am confuse in selecting the topic because as being the student of computer science I need to pursue my research in domain of computer science. but I am confuse in selecting right topic in domain of cyber law which will justify my research in area of computer science.
I would not recommend a PhD in topics like Cyber Law.
If you are a Computer Science graduate and MCA, then I would suggest a topic related to technical field.
I really appreciate your interest to do PhD in computer science. There is dearth of scientific literature in the field of cyber law and your interest in doing doctoral research in cyber law is commendable.
Selecting a right PhD topic is a challenge. You mentioned that you are interested in cyber law and want to identify topic in cyber law which is relevant to your field of study.
I will try to provide detailed answer; however, I recommend you to talk with me or other counselors in detail.
Cyber law is one of the topic within cyber security and cyber security is relevant to computer science and information technology. Specific themes of Cyber Security are as follow:
Information Security GovernanceNetworking and System SecurityComputer Ethics and Cyber law, cyber Security PolicyCybercrime and its management: Use of technology for preventing cyber crimeLegal Issues in Cyber Security in IndiaBiometric Authentication TechnologiesForensic Investigation in Information System
Above themes are pointers. In order to select as specific theme and develop problem statement (PhD title), following steps may be useful:
Identify broad study area: Identify major three themes/areas of your interest within cyber lawLiterature search and review: Do literature review to know gaps in knowledge. Review at-least five recent researches (not more than 10 years old) in each area of your interest. Identify knowledge gaps and possible areas of research.
Shortlist one theme: After brief analysis, talk with your guide, colleagues about your selected theme and ask for their feedback/opnions.
Identify three specific topic: Identify three topics and write statements. Discuss this with you PhD guide/supervisor.
Finalize one topic: With discussion, arrive at one topic.
Write a concept note on selected PhD Topic: Write a concept note of maximum 3 pages. It should describe an overview of the topic, gaps in existing research, your research questions, research design, methodology, research tools and expected outcomes.
I am sharing a link that may guide you with the process of choosing PhD topic.http://jameshaytonphd.com/how-to-choose-a-thesis-topic/
Hope this is helpful. If you want to have systematic guidance on your PhD, feel free to talk to me or any of your preferred counselors from www.careerguide.com.
