Looks like there is more confusion from your end, as you are listening to friends more than deciding for yourself.

Firstly it is very important that you have a Graduate degree, whether you do it in Fine Art or in Textile designing.

As a Fine Art graduate you would specialise in painting, photography, ceramics painting, graphic designing, sculpture making and others.
It is a 3 years degree program, whereby you would have to clear an Entrance exam for pursuing the course.
Post that you could get a job in any private or public sector of your choice or you could begin on your own as an artists.
You could find employment in:
  • Art Galleries
  • Museums
  • Art Schools
  • Sculpture or Craft Houses
  • Film Industry

As you are looking out to do a course from Pearl Academy, I am sure you might have checked their website too.
They offer you a 4 years Undergraduate degree n Textile designing. Also offers you a Post-Graduate degree and diploma program.
As a textile designer, you would be exposed to learning more about the fabrics, the texture, designs suited and how to go about it.

So you have a choice to make, whether you wish to graduate as a Fine Art student, which also has a specialization of Textile designing or you wish to graduate from Pear Academy with Textile designing.

All the very best....
