Dear Aspirant,

Why have you selected Humanities as the category to ask this question. Are you interested in humanities field after engineering?

If you are interested in engineering field, then having a good score in your degree of engineering is the first thing I would recommend you to focus on. Good companies require first class in engineering degree.

There are few options after getting over with BTech.

1. Job

2. MTech/ME

3. Teaching after ME/MTech

It depends on your choice which one do you prefer and is suitable to you.

Best wishes

Dear Gaurav,

Thanks for writing to www.careerguide.com!

Well, you have not provided details of specialization, engineering in which field? To provide specific answer, we need information about your specialization, your interest.

In general, there are good job opportunities for Engineers. After BTech, you have three options: (1) Job (2) Higher studies and (3) Consulting work/business.

Jobs:

Jobs are available in government, semi-government & public sector organizations, and private sector organizations in your specialization.

Government jobs: The Central/State Governments offer jobs to B.E./B.Tech graduates in different departments. Usually recruitment are based on written test and interview. Keep watch on Government recruitment and I request you to refer to Employment News for news related to recruitment.

Private sector: Many manufacturing, marketing, consulting companies in your area of specialization offer jobs. As per your specialization, explore job opportunities.

Higher Studies:

You can opt for higher studies in the area of your interest withing your specialization. If you are interested in research and academics, higher studies is essential.

Research: You can identify your specialization and do MTech. After MTech, you can work with research organizations or research department of corporates/government/semi-Government institutes.

Academic sector: You can work as Junior Research Fellow/Research Officer or Teaching Assistant after ME/MTech. If you want to get into academics, then you need to do ME/MTech and PhD. You can start your career in academics as a Research fellow or Teaching Assistant and reach upto Professor level.

Consultation/Bussiness: If you are very clear about doing business or consulting work, you can start business, for example, taking dealership of engineering products, or starting consulting services to engineering companies, if you are civil engineer, you can take Government contracts etc. It is highly recommended that you should start business after at-least 2 years or more work experience in the field.

Hope this is helpful. If you still have queries, feel free to revert. I would be happy to help you clarify your queries.

Best Wishes,

Apurva Kumar Pandya, PhD
