PG diploma in Dietetics after BSc in Hospitality

I want to pursue the 1 yr PG diploma in dietetics from Mumbai. I have completed my 3 yr BSc in hospitality studies from Mumbai university and I am working in the food industry and want to combine my food skills and knowledge with dietetics. I read through some online sources that a PG diploma in dietetics can be pursued by 3 yr Hotel management but when I contacted the Home science colleges, they were confused about my eligibility. Kindly guide me.

Dear aspirant

Good to see your interest on dietetics and it is little obvious that you are most often qualified to study a Pg diploma in dietetics after a Bsc in Hospitality. To be honest students should compulsorily study chemistry and biology until 12th class to be eligible for studying dietician course in future. Therefore it is compulsory for you to study PCB physics chemistry and biology at 12th class or even study PCMB Physics chemistry biology and maths at 12th class. If you have studied either of these groups at school level then you are definitely eligible to study PG Diploma Dietetics course at post graduate level. However if you have not studied either of these groups at school level then i really doubt if you will be given consideration to study PG Diploma in Dietetics course. However if you have studied in an international school where you can choose subjects to study and if you choosen chemistry and biology as your main school subjects then you should be definitely eligible for studying PG Diploma in Dietetics course.

I know a candidate who had a Bsc hospitality background and also studied pcb route in school level and then completed Pg diploma Dietetics course in Bangalore. But before applying to the college, he personally approached the head of the department and administration office to discuss with them about the eligibility and securing an admission. Similarly, i advice you to personally visit colleges and check with them as your case is a bit different. If i know you were a science studnet at school level then i can definitely say that you are eligible to study this PG Diploma in dietetics. But if it was an MSc two year degree then there may be some considerations. This is why i ask you to contact individual colleges. All the best.
