Tax as a topic is one of the interesting subject to understand and learn. Tax has always been one of the major part of life in the country like India. On day to day basis we pay several taxes to the government directly or indirectly. Income Tax in all the taxes is one of the always thought and discusses topics among the people.
Many students they aspire to make a career in the Income Tax Department but are not aware how to get into Income Tax Department and make a career in it.
It’s good to see that you have been aspiring to make a career as the Income Tax officer.
In order to become a Income tax officer you need to apply for the Indian Revenue Services exam which is also known as IRS. The other way is to give a Staff Selection Commission Exam.
To be eligible for the exam you should have completed a Graduation Degree from any stream from a recognized university. The age should be between 18 years to 27 years. 3 years age relaxation for the OBC and 5 years age relaxation for the SC/ST Candidate.
The notification of the exam is issued every year in the month of April. You can find the notification in the Rozgar Samachar / Employement Newspaper, ‘Gazette of India’ and other leading newspapers.
Fill the application form and send it to the regional centre as mentioned in the notification. The exam is conducted in 3 levels –
