It’s good to have strong ambitions in the early stage of life which will enable you to prosper at large so early. I would say for your query out rightly, that you yet have time to appear in the civil services exam, i.e. IAS/IPS exam. And this examination is conducted on the basis of Bachelor Degree and not on 12th or any such equivalent education level. There is no need to acquire specific or higher marks in your 12th and in Bachelor Degree and what it requires that is simply passing this education levels to be eligible for appearing in the IAS/IPS (CSE) Exam. There is no role at all for 12th level of education in this process and whoever has the bachelor degree from a recognized university with simple passing can fill up the application form to appear in the exam.

The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) is the central autonomous authority which coordinates the whole selection procedure for the top civil administration posts in India. UPSC conducts Civil Services Exam (CSE) annually regularly on predetermined dates for which it publishes the Exam Calendar well before in advance on its website (www.upsc.gov.in) and in the Employment Newspaper of Government of India. For upcoming examinations, you can see the UPSC Examination Calendar on the official website of the UPSC. There is no any separate exam held for IPS but this is one of the posts including IAS/IFS/IPS/IRS, recruited by a common Civil Services Exam held by the UPSC.

Dear aspirant as I have mentioned it earlier that it only requires you to possess a valid university bachelor degree or you must have been papering in the final year of you bachelor provided when get selected through UPSC for Interview, you are supposed to present your degree certificates to the UPSC authority. You even can have any distance education bachelor degree from a recognized Open University in India for being eligible to appear in the exam. In brief, let us have detail about the exam procedure:-

IAS/IPS (CSE) Exam Procedure:

Exam will be conducted in three stages – Preliminary Test, Mains Exam, and Personality Test.

Preliminary test will be Objective and of rectifying nature (Marks of this stage are not counted in the final score)(For 400 marks / 2 Papers)

Mains Exam is descriptive one and you have to write short and long answers for four General studies papers, two optional subjects’ papers, one Essay Papers and two language papers. (1750 Marks)

Personality Test is known as Interview which is held in Delhi face to face (275 Marks)

Apart from the General Studies Papers you have to choose one optional paper from a given list.
