It is preferable that you should do B.Sc Home Science from any recognized university/college. To become a dietician, you need to do Bsc in nutrition and dietetic course. Considering the market need, post graduation in the same field is recommended. You can opt for PG diploma course as well. After graduation, you can do 1 year Post Graduate Diploma (Diploma in Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition (DDPHN).The one year DDPHN course has a compulsory three-month internship, working in a hospital under a qualified dietician. After doing Post graduation program, one can go in for course in dietics or in Food and Nutrition.

You can also do training courses organized by the National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, which is a premier institute under Indian Council of Medical Research.

Minimum eligibility for pursuing BSc is 12th in Science stream (with physics, chemistry and home science/biology) with minimum 55%. There is no age bar for pursuing graduation or post-graduation in any age.
