Hello Dear Rajarshi Dhar,

At first, I would like to thank you for writing a detailed and very clear query here on CareerGuide.com. Clear and complete queries are very much required to advice appropriately and I appreciate your query on this parameter. I am glad that you approached CareerGuide.com with this wonderful query.

I have been an educationist for more than seven years now and have been counselling many students from diverse fields like engineering / finance / law / management, etc. Reading your query, made me very enthusiastic to answer it and put befor eyou my view point. My colleague here Mr. Rahul Shinde has excellently adviced you, however I would like to bring you another view.

Firstly, it is commendable that you seem to have well planned your career and accordingly taken up education qualifications. BE Electrical and MBA are good combinations and it is very very excellent that inspite of doing MBA you did not shift your careers to other unrelated sectors like banking, finance, marketing, etc. but you kept your self very near to your core area of engineering coupling it with Logistics work experience.

In order to gain high paid jobs which combines engineering plus management qualities, work experience has to be the most important thing now for you. 1.6 years of experience should be continued in the same field for atleast 5 years to gain the much needed salary hike or better job opportunities else where.

Considering your Electrical Engineering background and your Logistics MBA, you are already into a good sector and this sector has tremendous scope for growth.

Dear Rajarshi, I would like to tell you a fantastic value addition in order to make a great career progres along with remuneration hike.

The value addition is called "Project Management".

Project Management is the key area for any sector and especially Engineers in the field like you are in, this learning is vital for you. You may be able to see Project Managers in your organisation too. Logistics is a part of the Infrastructure industry and to tell you the status today, 10 lakh project management professionals are required in the infrastructure and construction industry.

You are a proud part of Infrastructure industry and there fore Project Management is a vital part you should learn.

There are very short terms courses in Project Management (3 months or so) available which can be done while doing a job.

I would suggest you to consider this aspect.

All the Best!
