The fashion industry is at a stage when there are jobs coming up on a regular basis. There is a constant demand for trained professionals but competition for the jobs is really tough with alot of aspirants for each job. This industry is full of glamour but there is a lot of hard work . It offers tremendous creative satisfaction, fame and money too India is entering the field of haute couture on the international scene and Indian designers are getting to display their creations in international stores. Indian fashion designers are being approached by global chains to create separate lines of clothing and accessories. The garment export industry and the fashion outlets in the country are thriving. Designer wear has come to stay and the demand is growing
. There is a thriving market not just for haute couture but also for sports wear, leisure wear and the ready to wear segment of the industry. fashion professionals are either working on their own or they get attached to fashion houses or garment export units, to the film industry, to theater or to electronic media. many textile units in the country have launched their own fashion lines and this has created many more jobs.

Thus,if you can create magic with colours, shapes and designs, then just obtain a professional course to begin successful career in the alluring world of fashion designing.

What would it cost me?
The fees structure varies from institution to institution. However, on an average you will have to sidh out more than Rs. 45000 per annum to complete a course in Fashion Designing from a reputed institution.

Job Prospects:
In India, the fashion industry has just begun to come of age, as it is still in its fledgling stage. This industry offeres plenty of opportunities for talented hard working and enthusiastic people. Prospects for fashion design graduates are pretty good, thanks to the huge and still growing demand for "designer wear" and the equally outsized quantity of exports. So down the line 5 Years there wont be any saturation in the jobs for "Fashion Designer"

After successful completion of the course, you can remain self employed. Alternativey, several export houses, garment store chains, textile mills, leather companies, boutiques, fashion show organizers, jewellery houses, and media houses recruit professionals interested in a career in fashion designing.

Job Roles:
As a professional fashion designer, you can work in areas like designer wear production, fashion marketing, planning and concept management. Then there is a fashion media, design production management, fashion accessory design, quality control and promotion of brands.
