The number of people setting up houses or moving to better accommodation is increasing and consequently the demand for interior decorators. People prefer the professional touch and advice on color schemes and the right type of fittings and so approach interior decorators for their specialized services.

With more new enterprises coming in regularly and space at a premium , interior decorators are in great demand to assist in the maximum utilization of space as well as its beautification. Interior decorators can also develop a good business in soft furnishings.

To establish a good name for themselves, they have to be meticulous about the discharge of their professional duties while trying to adhere as closely as possible to the client's tastes. The demand for creation of various kinds of work and living space is rising with increasing corporate activity and increasing pressure of population , enhancing the need and importance of interior designers. Availability of improved and new materials are giving interior designers better opportunities to explore their creativity.

They are blending the traditional with the modern , keeping client preferences in mind to create striking interiors. Interior designers work for architecture firms, with builders/ developers or in design consultancy firms. The government , defense services and the public sector also recruit interior designers.
