Respected Sir/Ma'am, I completed my class 10th and chose the science stream for I like science. I took economics as my optional subject. Coming to your question, as to whether you should follow your dreams or follow what your parents say, is a big dilemma students face while choosing a career.
My point here is, Are you trying to revolt just because the line they have chosen for you is the common route every student takes.Have you thought what you wish to become and the future prospects in that career???
Before you say No to your parent choice, as the counselor Anandjee has said, Parents know us very well and they being our well wisher can definitely help us make a better choice.
As far as your dreams are concerned, whereby relating to travelling or helping people or sports is concerned, you can start your own business, which may be into an NGO service or a travel agency and so on.
Think twice and best would be to confirm it by undertaking an Aptitude tests.
