Should I take up CS alongside BAF after SYJC?

I am in FYJC currently. Soon, SYJC is going to start. I was confused whether to take up CA or CS after SYJC. Eventually I decided, I should take up CS but I have many queries there. Is there any course that I have to take up with my SYJC for CS ahead? Like the students going for CA take up CPT? and would baf+CS do good? Or I should take up something else alongside CS?

Hello There! I very much liked your query and appreciate that you approached the right platform to get guidance and advice for your career query. I am sure we will be able to help you out in this.

I am an Educationist and have been into career counselling for students from commerce / law / management / engineering streams for more than seven years now. I have also been into teaching and have been writing articles on various topics including career management in reputed newspapers and magazines published across India.

Company Secretary is a wonderful course and with the increasing legalities, reporting and business environment, secretarial and legal work in the organisations has been rising manifold and therefore professionals like Lawyers, Company Secretaries are in demand. Even private practising professionals are also in demand due to the volume of work in secretarial and legal department.

Firstly I would like to appreciate you for thinking of what to take up for career just when you are FYJC level. Now that your SYJC that is HSC level coming up, I would like to request you to study and concentrate on your HSC studies and get good percentage. Getting good percentage through good studies will boost your confidence in studies and about yourself too. Since you have decided to take up Company Secretaryship course, I suppose that you like theoritical subjects very much and I hope you may be having a subject on Secretarial Practice in your FYJC and SYJC.

According to me, your graduation itself is a wonderful course which will help you build the foundation for Company Secretary course. I do not really feel that you need to pursue any other course along while doing Company Secretary course. As you go further in your graduation years, every subject will help you for your CS course and vice-versa.

Instead of doing any other course, what I would strongly suggest is concentrate on your HSC exams, study good in order to remember it for future too and study for Company Secretary course along with BCom studies. BCom studies are not at all hectic and heavy and you will definitely manage to pass BCom with good percentage as well.

After BCom, if you are still doing the CS course, do not forget to pursue LL.B course. Company Secretary and LLB qualification are the most wanted and demanded in the industry and its a fantastic combination for stable and growing career.

Best Luck.
