Interesting, you are looking to make a career in Architecture.

The NATA tests would check your aptitude towards the subject, your creative and analytic skills

Since as an architect your main role involves making sketches of structures as per clients requirements. This involves analyzing the requirements, and putting it on papaer, which has to be catchy to the clients eye to get you business.
This is what NATA will tests you on.

As far as preparations is concerned, you would have too begin ASAP, as such there is no preparations. You got to see how good is your visualization skills, creative and analytic skills.

There are mock papers available to check such skills, go ahead and solve as many as you can.

Most importantly get your Aptitude tests done, because they check one aptitude which is needed for this career, i.e. the Spatial ability, it will tap on your creative and visualization ability.

As far as the success rate, it would clearly be based on the number of questions correctly answered by you. Also number of students who appear for the tests, since it is just a single tests and lacks of students could apply for the same, so cut offs would be purely be decided on that years students appearing and clearing the tests.
Put in all your effort and give it your best shot.
