Hi,

Thanks For approaching us at CareerGuide.com

A very interesting career option.

Indeed you could choose both of them or either one of them. Choice is yours.

When you talk about Public Administration exams, it basically suggests careers into Civil services like IAS, IES and other related fields.
To be eligible for Civil service examinations the minimum requirement is Graduation with a first class degree.

Though preparations for the exams begins right from 12th, but you could appear for the exams only after you clear your Graduation.

Thus for Graduation you could opt for Banking and Accounts related field.
Since you have opted for Banking as a career, I am assuming you have appeared for 12th in the commerce field.
Hence you could now opt for courses like BBI, which is Bachelors in Banking and Insurance, which is a self financed course.
This course is a 3 years undergraduate course which exposes students to specific banking related functions and gives direct entry into banks after the degree. These courses have limited seats and are self financed courses, as the students are clearly exposed to banking functionality from professionals who are at a higher postilion in the banks and related functions.
Bank Officer

This takes care till your Graduation. But post that apart from appearing for Civil service exams, you need to keep yourself updated with banking functionalities and hence need further degree or diploma programs to help you sustain and move further in your profession.
You could opt for courses related to

As far as Civil Service exams are concerned, it is considered the toughest exams, since it is purely analytical based. Mainly stressing on your reasoning capacity.
Bank Officer
The only way to succeed in these exams is Reading. And not just reading but learning to be Diplomatic in answering and answering with the help of reasoning. You must be able to derive a meaning from what you read and at the same time have your own analysis and thinking.
Get into a lot of reading and at the same time, maintain a diary whereby you start writing down your own analysis of the article or newspaper clipping or books to have read about.
Secondly little knowledge of all fields right from Politics to Finances to health to Sports to global to Household must be your forte.
Remember not just writing the analysis, but at the same time being able to express yourself being Diplomatic as well as humorous is essential. There are coaching classes that prepare you for such processes, but you could also take help of your family and teachers.

Hope this answers your query.

Wish you good luck......

Dear Aspirant,

I think you can combine your desire to join public service and banking, by preparing for Reserve Bank of India (RBI) exams of Grade A, Grade B.

For this you need to have a good background of finance, accounts, banking, maths and economics. For appearing for RBI vacancy exams, you need to be minimum Masters degree holder. Most preferred Masters degrees in RBI are Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Costing, Accountancy, Treasury.

You can also think for IES or IRS exam which is Administrative Services Exam but related to core Finance, Accounts or Commerce field.

Best wishes!
