I feel you are a very good student and definitely your thinking is very positive. It is sad that you missed out in JEE by very few marks but that is definitely not the end of your career.
BSc is definitely a good graduate course which can help you build strong foundation for your future and further education. Which subject are you thinking of doing BSc?
I would suggest you to choose either Maths, Physics, since you were interested in engineering at the beginning and you should definitely not kill the aim of being an engineer. Remember that after BSc you can get into engineering degree and become an engineer formally too.
