Hey Bharat,

All streams have great prospects! It is the college and job role that you get after you complete your engineering which makes the prospects good or bad. So try and get the best colleges if you are unsure about the streams yet.

But streams do depend on your aptitude as well.

My batchmate from Computer Science got employed by BHEL and he is extremely happy even though the work at BHEL is not cutting edge computer engineering work. So there are other factors such as career growth, work environment and personal priorities which come into the picture as well.

I hope this answer helps in understanding this conundrum better.

Hi Bharat.. Every stream of Engineering is having good job opportunities in different fields. So, You have to take care of your interests while choosing the stream. You can choose from a wide variety of streams form this list of different engineering streams and the job prospects.:

-Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE): Software Developers, RF Engineers in electronics, Embedded Engineers, telecommunication, VLSI Designers, IT industry in government, semi-government and private sector

-Civil Engineering (CE): designing, supervision and construction of roads, building, bridges, canals, airports, dams, sewerage plants and railways

-Computer Science and Engineering (CSE): Developers, Software Testers, Solution Integrators, Design Engineers, Network Administrators, Database Administrators , Web and Mobility Engineers in a variety of computing domains

-Electrical Engineering (EE): Software Developers, Junior Engineer, Power System Engineers and Embedded Engineers in electrical and IT industry in government, semi-government and private sector

-Information Technology (IT): Developers,  Solution Integrators, Design Engineers, Network Administrators, Software Testers, Database Administrators, Web and Mobility Engineers

-ME-Mechatronics: Project Engineer,Roboticist, Embedded Engineer, Production Engineer, Supervisor,Designer in various mechatronics units in private and government organisations such as railways, BHEL, ONGC and SAIL

-Biotechnology (BT): Production Engineers, Quality Control Analyst in food and chemical industry

-Food Technology: Quality Analyst, Production Officers, Marketing Managers and Food Inspectors in government organizations like FCI

-Chemical Engineering (CHE): in pharmaceutical and chemical industries

-Automobile Engineering (AE): Project Engineer, Production Engineer, Designer, Supervisor in various automobile manufacturing companies like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Hyundai, Ford as well as can join government sector

Leading institutes for these streams are like SRM university, Lovely Professional University, Manav Rachna University etc. Excellent faculty, departmental programs like seminars, workshops, conferences etc makes the lives of the students in these programs more vibrant and enjoying. Some of the universities are proving scholarships and good placement opportunities.
