Hi,

Work value is a set values that include good performance, take initiative and working well with others. You can set your own work values and set goals to increase them as well.

Petroleum engineers design and develop methods for extracting oil and gas from deposits below the earth's surface.Petroleum engineers also find new ways to extract oil and gas from older wells. They typically do the following -

- Design equipment to extract oil and gas in the most profitable way.
- Develop ways to inject water chemicals, gases or steam into an oil reserve to force out more of the oil.
- Make sure that wells, well testing and well survey are completed and evaluated.
- Use computer-controlled drilling or fracturing to connect a larger area of an oil and gas deposit to a single well.
- Make sure that oil field equipment is installed, operated and maintained properly.
- Asses costs and estimate the production capabilities and economic value of oil and gas well to evaluate the economic viability of potential drilling sites.
- Develop plans for oil and gas field drilling and for product recovery and treatment.
- Analyze data.

There is so much to do for them. They work in the conditions they may be unpalatable for some.
They spend long stretches of time sitting in offices studying maps and data often by them selves.
Work in remote and inhospitable locations.
Frequent interaction with family and friends is not for them.
They work for 40-60 hrs/wk,spend long hours travelling to and fro from the sites.
- They have strong work values.
- They have strong dependability and responsibility.
- They always possess positive attitude.
- Their adaptability is very high.
- They have great value for honesty and integrity as the work they do ,demands from them.
- They have the ability to build an organization based on values.
-They are always self motivated.
- They have great confidence levels.
-They have built in professionalism.
- And last but not the least they are loyal to the core.

I think i have answered your question to best of my knowledge.Hope you gain a lot from this and move forward.

ALL THE BEST!!!!!!!!

Hi,

Greeting's for the day!!!

Despite the fact that petroleum engineering is an attractive and high paying career option, not much information is available on it. typically, a petroleum engineering graduate is given a job to discover natural sources of oil and examine the same. Similarly, developing the latest machines and equipments which can be used in the extraction and processing of oil is part ofthe job of a petroleum engineer. Petroleum engineers have global career and are hired by global oil companies.

The Petroleum Engineering is divided into 2 parts:
1. Upstream Sector:
Consists of activities like exploration, production and exploitation of oil and natural gases. After gaining a qualification in petroleum engineering, the engineers work in the exploration and production activities of petroleum and other related products. Using the latest drilling technology and geophysics for the exploration of oil reservoirs, they exploit the same for maximum output.

2. Downstream Sector:
Consist activities such as refining, marketing and distributing of petroleum products. Production is not the only work carried out in a petroleum company and the jobor petroleum engineer does not get over as the oil is produced, rather, it starts at this stage. Refining process is crucial for an oil product as then only it can be used. MArketing and distributing department may require a petroleum engineer to have some management degrees.

Job Prospects:
Career prospectsare quite attractive in petroleum sector as petroleum companies have great influence and offer attractive salaries to employees. the demand for petroleum and petroleum products is only expected to increase and the increase would lead to creation of new jobs. Infact, there is great demand of efficient petroleum engineers and almost every young graduate in petroleum engineering gets a job offer from petrol and gas companies from india and Overseas.

Required work Values to become Successful Petroleum engineer:
1. Excellent Academic record in BTech in Petroeleum Engineering is must.
2. Technical exposure during various projectscarried out during the course shows that the candidate can work effectively when exposed to real scenarios.
3. Excellent numerical and computer skills are expected from petroleum engineers as most of the time there would be computer simulation required for further analysis.
