Dear Siddharth,

The career options in travel and tourism include the following

In tourism department the openings are in the form of tourist guides, information assistants, officers, reservation and counter staff, sales and marketing staff, tour planners, etc

In airlines the openings are in the form of ground staff like traffic assistance, reservation and counter staffs, customer service, sales and marketing staff, and flight jobs like airhostess and flight pursers.

In travel agencies we find openings in the form of  counter staff, sales and marketing staff,  tour operators, cargo and couriers etc...

Whereas hotel industry have openings in the form of operations, front office, housekeeping, food and beverages, accounting, maintenance, sales, public relations, security, etc...

Tour operators and transports also provide openings for candidates with travel and tourism qualification.

Hope this helps

Happy career planning

Dear Aspirant,

Choose Travel & Tourism as a career only if you are sure that you wish to be in the field for a life time, since later if you feel that you wish to change job to some different sector, then this experience would not be of any use to you.

Tourism and Travel are a hectic career sector, where you can choose to get a job in house or be in travel with the passenger tourists. Therefore if you like travelling basically and geography, then only this sector is for you and not otherwise.

There are under graduate diplomas available, however I would strongly suggest you to first get graduated in a core stream like Arts/Commerce/Science and then shift to Travel and Tourism courses. Graduating in a core stream is always beneficial.

Best wishes

In my own journey of discovery, I've realized that travel is not just about ticking destinations off a list. It's about the stories we collect, the people we meet, and the lessons we learn along the way. That's why I was particularly captivated by the approach of Anna Veselova-Solovonyuk at https://www.travelwiseway.com/person-anna-veselova-solovonyuk.html , whose insights on sustainable and meaningful travel have been a game-changer for me.  Her insights have encouraged me to look beyond the surface of tourist attractions and seek out experiences that are enriching for both the traveler and the host community.
