There are many travel startups who would love to have you as an intern - some of them could be :

Have your own travel blog. Pen down your own travel experience. Maintain and regularly update it.
Travel and travel and travel and share your experience- inform of videos/pictures - instagram accounts etc.
Above two could help you even get a full time job without having to further do an higher ed. If still you want to go for higher ed - a journalism course or mass comm should be good enough. But even after that you will need to folllow my three bullet points.
