What After BBA? Interested In Finance, Law or Advertising

I am 27 years old. I have a correspondence BBA from Annamalai University. I have substantial experience as a web copywriter and SEO. I am interested in law, finance or advertising. What other courses that will take the stigma of distance education away from me and propel me towards either finance, law or advertising YET keep my career transition smooth? Can someone study engineering at 27 years of age? Please advise. Regards, Suman (Ronny).

Dear Suman

It is appreciating to see your interest in studying a masters course. After reading your profile completely i can definitely say that you will be the most suitable candidate for studying advertising only rather than finance or law. In fact i can say keep your first choice as advertising and second as law, may be third choice as finance. But to be honest i want to ask yourself if you have high numerical skills and interest in studying finance. I understand you have studied BBA by distance but have you studied finance as part of this BBA degree? If you have studied then no problem. Alternatively if you have not studied finance before then you may find it very hard to study finance at a masters level. However i see you have gained some work experience already in copy writing and SEO. You may already know that these skills are only related to Advertising and i highly advice you to pursue this career path.

As you have gained work experience related to advertising, i highly support your idea of only studying a course related to this field. Because your work experience matters a lot than a distance education degree. You have a plus because of this but if you choose to study law or finance you are entering almost new field and also with no work experience too. then you may feel like you have to propel from the first. I also want to indicate that you have developed excellent communication skills though studied through distance. To be honest, you are the first person that i have come across with very good communication skills despite not going to a full time college education. In fact this excellent communication is an important skill for an advertising job. So feel confident to study a course related to advertising like MA Mass communications, MA Advertising and communications, MA English with communications. Studying an advertising degree will link your work experience and will help you grow well. You can consider these colleges for a post graduate degree in advertising as these are top in India. You can study full time at PG level and your past distance education will not affect this.
  1. National institute of advertising
  2. Mudra institute of communications Ahmedabad
  3. Indian institute of mass communications New Delhi
  4. Xaviers institute of communications
  5. Delhi school of communication
  6. Amity institute of communications
  7. Apeejay institute of mass communication.

Enroll for a MA/ PG Diploma course at any of the institutes that i have mentioned here. I am sure you will have a bright future. Lastly, please do not forget that studying further something related to your work experience is the best career move. All the best.
