Hi Vipul,

Interesting and a unique career option.

Though there is a lot of demand for professionals in this field, we have very less qualified and professional people in this field.

Audiologists are the speech language therapists, who basically work with individuals ( Children and Adults) to help them differentiate sounds, identifies any hearing issues with the use of tests, finds out the level of impairment, help them hearing with the help of the hearing aid etc, teaching or counsels them towards different hearing methods like sign languages etc.

Though as a B.Sc in Audiology you would be working as an audiologists, but getting into research you would have to opt for an M.Sc program. At the same time, you get to specilaise in one option at the M.Sc level

After an M.Sc, you are working into research whereby you generate new technology and at the same time, implement it on the clients or patients you deal with.
Generally as a Graduate, you would mainly be involved in taking the case history of the client, as well as preparing then for the diagnosis, whereas reading the tests report and suggestions and further assessments of the client would be played by an M.Sc graduate.
Some of the career options available at the M.Sc level includes:

  • Acousticians
  • Audiological Scientists
  • Auditory Scientists
  • ENT / Audiological Physicians
  • Hearing Aid Audiologists
  • Hearing Therapists
  • Research Audiologist

Hope this helps.

Wish you good luck....
