Let me first tell you about zoology; the study of animals and their behavior and physiology in natural and controlled environment is known as zoology and the person who study the subject zoology is known as zoologist.



After obtaining required degree in zoology (post graduate and doctoral degree) you will be technically eligible for the job of zoologist. The zoologist usually work in governmental sector such as colleges, universities, institutions, governmental laboratories, zoo, forest department, museum and wildlife biologist etc.



Zoologists



The career option of zoology in colleges and universities are huge. Here the entry level is lecturer, assistant professor, assistant scientist. In colleges and universities, the nature of job of the zoologist is teaching and research.



The pay scale is Rs. 15600-37100 and the academic grade pay of Rs. 5400. The person having only the post graduate degree of zoology, is also eligible to get the job of school teacher. As a teacher, the zoologist mainly involved in teaching only.



In governmental laboratories the primarily jobs of a zoologist is research. The induction of the zoologist (based upon the academic qualifications and number of years of relevant experience) may be on the post of Research associate or Senior Research Fellow or Junior Research Fellow of Assistant Scientist. The experienced person may be inducted at the level of senior position. Here you have to conduct research and gather information and then interpretation of data and publication in national or international journals.



In zoo the zoologist may have to look after the behavior and health of the animals. This job is very important and the person who love animals and have passion to spend time with them, this is very suitable job for them.



In the museum, the zoologist has to look after the dead or extinct animals, who are preserved or kept for peoples observation.



In forest department the zoologist may be employed to take care of animals and for their study.

The zoology subject do have lot of field studies, the person should be physically fit and healthy to spend time in forest, mountains, cold desert and other places.



In the laboratory, the zoologist also study animals very closely, using the microscope and other instruments.
