There are a number of personal and professional skills required to become the automobile engineer. Below is the list of those skills that would be helpful for you in achieving success in this field:

1. The automobile engineer has to be really good in his or her designing. This is because they have to design the various components and parts of the automobiles. The sense of designing is something that is really very important. Therefore they need to work a lot on their designing so that they can create the nice designs later.

2. The automobile engineers have to be really good in their research skills so that they can get the innovation in the automobile design process. They have to collect a lot of information from various resources and therefore need to be good at this.

3. They need to have the right sense of the production processes and how the manufacturing units work. They should be able to understand the whole process and the sequence. They should have the interest in the manufacturing process so that they can work efficiently.

4. The automobile engineers have to have the right communication skills. They have to interact with the clients on regular basis and therefore they have to be really good with them in order to mark the impression. Even while conversing with their coworkers they need to communicate well.

5. The automobile engineers have to have the interpersonal skills. They need to coordinate with the team members and the technicians so that the project could be completed. They have to work in team settings and they cannot afford to miss that skill.

6. The automobile engineers should be able to deal with pressure situations easily. There can be a number of difficult situations in the work place or the production plant. They have to be able to solve them within time and without getting under any pressure. Therefore the skill to work calmly under pressure situations is another virtue of this profile.

Nearly every autombile company isinvesting at higher rate than ever before to achieve a high growth trajectory. The overall investment in the sector has been increasing quite rapidly. It is expected that by the end of 2015 Indian Automobile Sector will be investing a huge amount as Rs. 35,000 crores.

Growth in the sector:
At present the industry is enjoying a growth rate of 14-17% per annum, with domestic sales growth at 12.8%. The growth rate is predicted to double by 2015.

As it is seen, the total sales of passenger vehicle cars, utility vehicles, multi utility vehicles in the year has increased in such a way that they have overtake Germany and Japan in Sales Volumes.

Financing schemes have become an important factor in the growth of automobile sales. More and more financial schemes are coming up with easy installment plans to lure the customers.

Employment in the Sector:
Investment is leading to the employment growth in the sector. With the emergence of new projects and introduction of technological advancements, the focus is more on the skilled and experienced human resource. The companies are looking for skilled and hardworking people whi can guve their best to the organization.

The Engineers in the Automotive or Electrical or Mechanical field are in demand. Some of the firms going for automation, i.e. planning for CAD (Computer Aided Design) systems, are also recruiting people with IT Specializations.

Personal and Professional Qualities and Skills:
1. Automobile Engineers need knowledge of many different aspects of engineering, including mechanical engineering, combustion, aerodynamics, electrical and electronic systems, and fuel technology.

2. you will need ability to think in orderly and logical way, as well as having imagination and curious mind. Automobile Engineers often work to deadlines, so you must be able to work under pressure.

3. You need to have good analytical and problem solving skills. You must be able to prioritise and plan effectively. You also need to keep up to date with new development and regulations.
