Biomedical engineers apply science and engineering principles to benefit people with medical problems by analysing and solving problems in biology and medicine. They design and develop technology including prosthetics (artificial limbs and joints), robotic surgery, cardiovascular devices such as artificial arteries, diagnostic equipment like ultrasound and X-rays, and artificial organs.


To be a biomedical engineer one needs to have an aptitude for science & mathematics. He should have an anytical bent of mind and problem solving nature. The person should have strong interest in both engineering as well as medicine. He must possess the ability to visualize complex processes and equipment. He should be creative and persistent. An individual should have good oral and written communication skills. He must have willingness to improve their knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis. He should have the ability to work effectively with people from various disciplines and educational backgrounds.He should enjoy synthesizing information to conduct research and develop new instruments, equipment and systems. He should enjoy perfforming tasks that require precision. He should be an excellent team member
