Environmental engineers and scientists conduct research in order to identify , abate oreliminatepollutants and hazards to the environment or to the health of population. His work involves collecting, analyzing, synthesizing , monitoring measurements , meteorological and mineralogical information and soil or water samples to interpretcorrelationsbetween human activities andenvironmentaleffects.



Communicating scientific and technical information to the public , media and organizations through oral briefings, written documents, workshops, conferences and training sessions to educate people about the consequences of neglecting o abusing theenvironment Providing scientific and technical guidance, coordination and planning with governmental agencies , environmental programs, industry on ways of recycling and preserving the environment. Processing and reviewingenvironmentalpermits, license and related materials, reviewing and implementingenvironmentaltechnical standards, guidelines, policies and formal regulations to meet appropriate requirements.





The job prospects of environmental engineers ateexcellent They havemultiplecareer options. They can work with government departments and agencies like forest and environment, construction companies, pollution control boards, urban planning,industries, water resources andagricultureetc. Private industries and firms also hire environmental engineers to suggest proper methods and processes.Waste treatment industries, refineries,distilleries mines , fertilizer plants, food processing industries and textile mills employenvironmentalscientists.Environmentalengineers also get involved in research activities inprivateand public sector organizations. Teaching in colleges and universities are also good optionavailableto environmental engineer.






A logical mind, scientific aptitude and a working knowledge of subjects like geography, geology , botany , chemistry and zoology are very necessary. Inquisitive nature, analytic ability, problem solving nature, interest in scientific and technological development, long concentration span, love for outdoor activities , comfort in interacting with people from diverse fields enhance one's career prospects in this field.
