The main responsibility of a general physician is to safeguard the health of their patients. The are usually attached to general hospitals. nursing homes , private clinics etc. They may also set up private practice or join the state or central medical services of the government. There are various areas of specialization within the medicine field . Some of them are :-
Cardiologists- specialize in diseases of the heart
Neurologists- specialize in the treatment problems of the nervous system
pediatricians specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of the diseases affecting children
Dermatologists diagnose and treat skin disorders

To be in the profession of medicine, apart from the required qualification one needs to have energy and stamina for working over long, irregular hours, above average intelligence , long concentration span, a caring nature, good health, a caring nature , ability to take responsibilities and decisions after weighing relevant factors , conscientiousness , sympathetic yer objective approach, immense patience and ability to deal with people from various walk of life
