The zoologist is the person or scientist who study the subject zoology. The zoology is study of animals, their behavior and physiology in natural or captive environment. To become a zoologist, one must have a post graduate or doctoral degree in zoology. depending upon the academic qualifications and experience, the person gets a suitable job of zoologist.



The related job for a zoologist are mainly in governmental sector such as schools, colleges, universities, institutions, zoo, forest department, museum and the governmental laboratories.



The person holding the degree of post graduate (MSc) in zoology is eligible for the post teacher in school. The nature of job of zoologist here will be teaching and interacting with students.



The person holding the degree of PhD in zoology or related subject such a animal behavior or animal ecology is eligible to make an entry as lecturer or assistant professor or assistant scientist in colleges, universities and institutes. Here the nature of job is teaching and research.



In research institutes and governmental laboratories the zoologist make entry as Research Associate, Senior Research fellow, Junior Research Fellow or Assistant Scientist. The entry to position depends upon the academic qualifications and number of years of relevant experience.



Here the nature of the job of zoologist is research. The person has to collect data of animals, their behavior, their classification and distribution in the habitat. He has to analyze the data and publish in international or national journals.





Zoologists

In the zoo, the zoologist looks after the animals, also study their behavior and if required, prepare and submit the report.



In the museum, the zoologist look after the dead and extinct animals, which are kept for peoples observation.



In the forest department, the zoologist study the behavior and also take care from poaching. The nature job of forest department may be in open field, in mountains or cold forest. For such jobs the person should be physically fit and healthy.



For any job, whether in field or laboratory, the person who is working as zoologist, should love the animals and have passion to pass time with them.



In the laboratories, the zoologist has to study the animals very closely using microscope and other instruments.
