Law is an art of doing something for the betterment of others. It is a practice to get justice for the correct. It is generally divided into two main areas referred to as Civil Law and Criminal Law.

Civil law deals with the resolution of disputes between individuals and organisations while Criminal Law deals with matters relating to social order and justice in which the guilty may be imprisoned and fined. All over the world, we see lawyers wearing a crisp white shirt and a stunning black blazer fighting for justice. They are the epitome of justice in the society. Every year thousands of candidates aspire to join L.L.B Courses all over India.

The admission into these Colleges is through a common entrance test known as Common Law Entrance Test (CLAT). To clear this test, applicants must be fully aware of the basic knowledge about law, English and Comprehension, Logical Reasoning and Elementary Mathematics. Each Lawyer of the country has to hold a certificate to practice from the Bar Council of India. Following are the main colleges and Universities in Delhi which offer L.L.B:

5 Years L.L.B Course

National Law University, Delhi:

This University was established in 2008 by an Act of National Capital Territory of Delhi with a vision to create a premier Global Legal Institute which would compete with the best within or outside India. It offers a B.A; L.L.B course for students who have passed their 12th-grade examinations with not less than 50% marks. There is a total of 80 seats for this program which includes 10 seats for direct admission to Foreign Nationals on merit. The candidate applying for this course should be of 21 years or less.

Amity Law School, Delhi:

It is an Institution of Ritnand Balved Education Foundation which is well known for its professional and technical education. It is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. It has 160 seats in total. A Common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted by the GGSIPU in May every year and can be taken up by any candidate who has passed his/her 12th

University School of Law and Legal Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi:

It was established in 2000 at the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. It offers an integrated 5 years B.A; L.L.B course. The candidate who applies for this course should have passed his 12th standard with a minimum of 50% marks. The admission is through a Combined Entrance Test (CET). There are 60 seats in total in which 40 seats are for B.A.L.L.B and the remaining 20 are for B.B.A.L.L.B program.

Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies:

 

Its B.A.L.L.B course has 300 seats in total and B.B.A.L.L.B has 180 seats. Admission is based on the merit of the candidate in the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. The candidate should have passed 12th standard with a minimum of 50% marks. The result is declared on the college website.

Jamia Milia Islamia

This University came into existence in 1920 with the mission of serving and providing cutting-edge learning experience, internationally benchmarked education, intellectual freedom, and critical research opportunities in frontier areas of contemporary concern. It offers B.A.L.L.B (Hons.) for which the total number of seats is 60. Candidates are required to have passed their 12th All other important details are mentioned on the official University website.

3 Years L.L.B Course

Faculty of Law, Delhi University

This University, established in 1924 has been a pioneer in introducing 3 years L.L.B course and ‘Case Law Method’ of teaching. It has achieved the distinction of being a premier institution in the country. Its library is one of the largest libraries in India and the faculty is the largest among all law schools. The University has collaborations with Universities of France, Germany, and America. The total intake of students for the course in 2310. Reservation is there for SC/ST/OBC as per the central government rules. There are three centers namely Campus Law Centre, Law Centre-1 and Law Centre-2 with 770, 924 and 616 seats respectively.
