An instrumentation and control engineer is mainly responsible for installing, designing, managing and developing equipment which are used to monitor and control engineering systems , machinery and processes. They are responsible for managing and modifying existing systems in industry, taking care of the whole project management, providing advice and consultancy support to the management etc. They can get jobs in research and development units of private as well as public sector companies. They are also required by the heavy industries such as thermal power stations, steel plants, refineries, cement and fertilizer plants as process engineer. They can get job in manufacturing or food processing industry as industrial automation or robotics engineer
.They can work with companies that manufactures specialized instruments such as actuators etc as design and product development engineer. Those who have an academic bent of mind can take up research or teaching jobs in engineering colleges or universities.After certain years of experience one can provide consultnacy services to various industries as well.
