Scope in company secretary career

It would not be wrong to state that company secretary is the officer who is the company's chief administrator.

They are vital link between the company, the board of directors, shareholders and governmental and regulatory agencies.

They look after finance, accounts, legal, personnel and administrative functions along with handling matters related to central/state sales tax, excise laws, labor laws and corporate law. Career as a CS would place one in a unique position via the board of directors.

 

It is a Non-Expensive Course regulated by professional body of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI).

Skills required for company secretary career

If you choose to be a Company Secretary then you must possess these traits to succeed in the profession:

  •          Logical and Analytical Thinking
  •          Excellent Communication Skills
  •          Diplomacy Decision making  skills
  •          Managerial capabilities with legal aptitude
  •          Interest in commerce and account
  •     Good interpersonal Skills

Job opportunity

A Company Secretary has good job prospects as its statutory requirement to have a full time CS for a companies seeking listing on stock exchange and for a company having paid-up capital of 50 lakhs or more. CS can be employed in:

  • ·         both public and private companies
  • ·         Banks and Stock exchanges
  • ·         In the fields of finance, law, accounts and merchant banking business houses or CS firms.

Educational requirement 

·         Students who have passed 10+2 in any discipline can enroll for course of CS.

·         The course is followed in three steps:

1.       Foundation course

2.       Intermediate course

3.       Final course

The course is of 18 months duration. Course is complete after students have undergone a yearlong practical training
