Medicine is a highly vocational degree with almost hundred percent employment rates. Many people think that medicine is a degree with the narrowest scope possible. But this field has so many hidden career opportunities. There are many jobs which are related directly to the degree include a cardiologist, clinical radiologist, general practice doctor, physician associate, and psychiatrist.

There are 60 different areas in which a medical graduate can specialize. It is very important for someone pursuing this field to have a good CV so that his/ her options can be enhanced in the future.

Students can take up voluntary work and get involved with medical societies to supplement his/ her medical degree. Also, medical students have an opportunity to serve in different areas such as the armed forces, prisons, hospitals or research agencies, clinical trial organizations, residential nursing homes, University teachings, air ambulance services, overseas aid agencies, etc. Students can also opt for studying further by doing a two-year foundation programme. This programme can give the students a chance to practice medicine in U.K.

Doctors after completing their degree either opt for general practice or specialize in some particular field. Some of the major career options which one can pursue after competition of his/ her medical degree are as follows:

  • Health Journalist: Journalism is a very competitive field with a lot of graduates all over the country. People do the mass communication course for 3 years and get positioned as a journalist. But, students who have scientific credentials have an edge in this field. Many doctors take up this profession rather than doing the typical clinical work. The students, however, should have a strong CV to get into this profession as it requires a lot of technical work and knowledge.
