Hello

Thank you for choosing Mera career guide and writing to us. I see you are looking out for a career in Interior designing. May I ask you what are you doing at present? Are you at school level or have already started a degree level at college? However, please understand a degree level Interior designing course is required to be able to work as an interior designer.

In case you are at school now, you may consider studying a BSc Interior designing course in India. Studying at a degree level after 12th standard is highly appreciable rather doing a Diploma after 12th standard. These are some of the top colleges in India that offers degree level undergraduate courses in Interior designing. Please be aware that these courses require you to sit for an entrance test and you will have to pass through it. It isn't nothing technical but a test on your flair interest into the subject, your English language communication level and general aptitude testing. A pass with First class is desirable to get admitted for a degree level course. You may consider applying to these colleges in India,

1. National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad (This is regarded as top institute for design in India)
2. National Institute of Fashion design, Chandigarh
3. Amity school of design
4. School of interior design, Ahmedabad
5. Raffles Millennium
6. Indian Institute of Design, Delhi
7. Pearl academy of fashion, New Delhi
8. Arch institute of fashion and design, Jaipur
9. Shrishti school of design, Bangalore
10. Sir JJ school of Arts, Mumbai
11. IIFA India, Jaipur
12. Sir Francis Institute of Arts and design, Mumbai
13. IMS Design and innovation academy, Noida
14. Madras Institute of Fashion technology, Chennai
15. IILM School of Design, New Delhi

You could apply for degree level courses like the BSc or BA at any of the above institutes. In case, you are currently at a Bachelors degree level and are interested in pursuing a career in interior designing, you could consider studying a one year Diploma in Interior designing after your present Bachelors degree. If at all you aspire for a degree level like a Bsc, you can consider the lateral entry option. Many institutes above consider admitting students on a BSc Interior designing course, even if you already have a degree. You can consider going through the lateral entry option and directly join in your second level of BSc Interior designing. In case, you arent interested in doing either a Diploma or degree level, you could consider doing a certificate in Interior designing. But please study certificate courses on a full time and ignore distance courses. Also ensure to study only those certificate courses that last for a minimum of 6 months to one year. Ignore courses that offer only for a month or two as they are of absolutely no use.

Hope this helps. All the best.
