There are quite a few myths prevalent about the Chartered Accountants. You mention a Chartered Accountant and people start thinking of number crunchers and that's all. Below are the few myths that people have:

1. Chartered Accountant only work on Historic Data:
This is what many people think. To start with - yes they do work on historic data. But that's with the purpose of doing the analysis and predict the trends for the future. Accessing the historic records is important for that purpose but that's not the only data they work on.

2. Chartered Accountant = Number Cruncher:
This is very common misconception among many people. Playing with numbers is something that most Chartered Accountants love, but that's not the only thing they do. They constantly work with the clients, ask them the relevant questions and then do their analysis. It is this analysis where stats and numbers are important, not in all their work.

3. Chartered Accountants are not Business People:
When people think of Chartered Accountants they assume that CAs have limited role in making business decisions. However that' not true. They understand the business and have great expertise in financse related subjects. They are often consulted before taking a business decision.

4. Chartered Accountants don't have fun at work:
This is a myth that is common among the people who belong to outside Chartered Accountancy world. They think that the CAs are always in to their laptops and working with numbers. One should remember that the work requires a great deal of creativity and innovation. Gone are the days when all they did was - working on the numbers. Their role is much more prominent now. Besides work - They get in to all kind of fun activities at work place and enjoy their time.
