Biomedical engineers apply the concepts of biology as well physics and chemistry to developproducts and services which are used in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The various key areas on which every biomedical engineer work are :-

Clinical Engineering- involves developing and maintaining computer databases of medical instruments and equipment records in hospitals.
Tissue Engineering- involves applying the principles of biology and engineering to develop tissue substitutes to restore , maintains or improves the function of diseased or damaged human tissues.
Cellular and genetic engineering- involves looking at medical problems at the microscopic level and developing devices to deliver medicines to precise locations to promote healing or inhibit diseases.

Rehabilitation Engineering- Rehabilitation engineers enhance the capabilities and improve the quality of life for individuals with physical impairements. they are involved in the development of home, workplace and transport modifications like motorized wheelchairs that enhance seating , positioning and mobility for those with physical disabilities.
Biomnechanics- involves applying mechanics to biological or medical problems. this will help you in deciding the specifications for the various devices such as artificianl joint replacements ,pacemakers etc.
Biomaterials- they are involved in rowing organs from tissues and cells in laboratory
Orthopaedic engineering- analyze the friction, lubrication and wear and tear of natural joints to develop artificial limbs just as good as the real thing.
Specialized Laser Technology- involves developing new laser technologies for application inroutine and specialized operations, dental surgery as well as skin related disorders.
