As a journalist, one gets involved in variety of roles and gets a lot of exposure. I am listing down the activities and responsibilities that you will be dealing with, as a journailst:
Research:As a journalist you will have to investigate the matter and come up with extensive research in order to build the stories around it. The better your research is, better you story will be.
Writing news and feature stories:The news stories are very important work and consumes the most time of a journalist. They have to write in a readable form and make it interesting enough so that the readers get the right information in a simple yet interesting way.
Photography: From journalist point of view, it is very important to take the relevant pictures (in some cases videos) so that the story looks better. The visuals always add more appeal to the story.


Editing:They also get involved in editing the stories before the main Editor finalizes them. The role of editing is to take out all the irrelevant information and edit any technical mistakes in the writing.
Facts: The factual information has to be correct. It cannot go wrong at any cost otherwise it may become a disaster in the reputation of the news agency. Therefore the journalists remain very careful while mentioning any fact. It has to be authenticated.
Lay out plan:In smaller publishing companies, journalists might be expected to do the lay out design as well. They have to understand the layout mechanism well and therefore add their value to it.

- Researchers: Researchers job revolve around doing the research work for the channel or the site. To be a researcher, you must be creative and inquisitive.

Further eye catching captions and key facts are necessary. Therefore in order to become a web journalist one must be capable of writing precisely and concisely.

Below is the list of the main work and responsibilities that the journalists do.


1. The journalists have to travel to the different locations in order to fetch the data and information. They have to report to a particular site in order to cover a story and therefore need to travel quite often. Once they have reached the site they need to meet the right people in order to get their facts right and collect the right information.

2. The journalists have to do a lot of online and offline research to get in to the depth of a story. This is because the journalists need to have all the necessary information so that they can do the anlaysis later and thus present the correct information to common public. It is very much important that they know the right resources and from where the information could be extracted.

3. The journalists have to do their analysis based on the information that they have collected and also the prior knowledge that they have. Their analysis and the content quality determines the quality of their work and therefore needs to be of top level so that the people can appreciate their efforts. They can not afford to be biased in their analysis and need to have a neutral approack.

4. The journalists spend a lot of time editing and writing the news stories. No matter what agency they are working for this is an essential part of their work. They have to build the stories and narrate them in such a way that the common public could find it interesting. This requires a lot of effort on their part.

5. They also coordinate with reporters and other team members such as editors so that the news are relayed on time and there is no problem or issue in the whole process. Thus the coordination and team work is important.

Therefore the journalists are responsible for wide range of works and responsibilities and are often burdened with work. They have a challenging role and thus the enjoy it very much.
