Mechanical engineers are required to design, install , manufacture and maintain various kinds of machines and other mechanical systems used in various industries.The industries that usually employ mechanical engineers are automobiles, space & research , aeronautical, energy and utilities and bio medical industry. In hard core automobile companies or allied industries , there are mainly four departments i.e production , quality control, maintainenance & research & development. The production engineer is mainly responsible for taking care of the manufacturing process. The maintenance engineer is mainly responsible for maintenance of machinary. The qaulity engineer is mainly responsbile for ensuring the quality of the products manufactured in the unit and research and develooment engineer is mainly for coming up with innovating technologies and ideas for production process. Engineers in this discipline also work on power producing machines such as electric generators, steam and gas turbines and internal combustion engines.They also work on power using machines like refrigration and airconditioning equipments, machine tools, material handling equipments and robots used in manufacturing process.
