Hello there....

First let me introduce myself to you, I am working as a financial analyst in a private company, I am having more than three years of experience in the same field. I did my MBA in finance from IIM shillong and was within top ten students of the batch.

Coming to your question about the roles and responsibilities of a security analyst,I would say the scope of their work is huge and vast as well. I would like to share with you some video which will give you a better idea and understanding about the work of a security analyst.

After watching the video you will definitely get a better perspective and knowledge about the responsibilities of a security analyst work. Some of the key work they do are listed down below:

  • Laying a plan to implement the security measures to protect the computer sytems, the data and networks.
  • Keeping updates about the latest technology and get time to time updated in accordance with that
  • Keeping eye on hackers and hacking related things
  • Suppose some problem in the network, network disaster, they are the only person in job then for creating a recovery plans etc.
  • How to do proper data management for the company and keeping all the back ups time to time.
  • Risk management like in case something happens how to minimize the risk of that incident.
  • Firewalls in all systems for better use of company network and channels.
  • Training the staff on software's and programs if needed and make the resources updated.
  • Any data loss is there responsibility, to maintain the data properly.
  • Many times it also includes encryption and decryption knowledge to make most of it.
  • To keep data and network, systems away from virus attack and make timely anti virus scan through anti virus software.
  • To make sure company is following all standards in compliance need to be maintained.
  • Monitor everything and keep check on misuse of anything related to company.

As the name suggests, Security Analysts are people who are basically into security.

As a Security Analysts, one is responsible for:
  • Protecting all sensitive documents in the office
  • All networkshaveadequate security to avoidunauthorizedaccess
  • Making day to day reports about the security and handing over the reports to the management
  • Training the employees about the security and getting them well equipped with thesecurity
  • To see all the systems both hardware and software are updated as per the security standards

So from the above it is clear that a Security Analysts plays the major role in an organization.
It is the one who is handling the secret documents and papers of the office, which is the main functioning of the organization.

As such here, mainly you would need documentation knowledge. But apart from that knowledge on systems is essential.
A liking and an understanding how networking and troubleshooting works is essential in this field to be succesful.

Any graduate, can learn a course related to networking or MCA and can work as a Security Analysts.

You can either pursue BCA and then an MCA or you could opt for B.tech in Electronics and telecommunication.

Choice is yours.

Wish you good luck..........
