The zoologist is a person who study the animals, their behavior, classification, distribution and their physiological aspects. Being a zoologist you must love animals and should have passion to spend time with them. Normally the jobs for a zoologist are in field or laboratory conditions.

The zoologist working as school teacher are mainly involved in teaching and interacting with students. Here not much work for field and laboratory. The zoologist (usually a post graduate in zoology or animal behavior or animal conservation subject) who work as Research Associate or Senior Research Fellow or Junior Research Fellow have responsibilities to work on the themes of the research project. These research projects are time bound projects, normally for three years but may be extended to another one year. The zoologist in research projects collect data, analyse it, and prepare the reports. The working knowledge of computer will be very helpful in such jobs. The zoologist here work under a senior zoologist , who is the supervisor of the research project.

Zoologists

The person holding the doctoral degree in zoology, usually makes an entry as lecturer, assistant scientist, assistant professor in colleges, research institutes, universities and governmental laboratories. The nature of job will be teching and research or mere research only. In the teaching the person will interact with students. The regular interaction and meetings with seniors, colleagues and some time with clients also keeps a zoologist busy. There are many other departmental related work in colleges and universities such as conducting exams, quality control and other management issues.

The zoologist who work in fields, should be physically fit and healthy, here the person has to spend time in forest, mountains, cold desert to observe the animals. One has to prepare reports about field visit. The zoologist who study nocturnal animals usually spends time in night and observe animals.

Whatever the scientific or non scientific work done by a zoologist, is to be converted into a report. The good report is published in form of research papers. The zoologist in laboratory are involved in observing small animals under microscope.

The zoologist working in zoo, looks after the animal health, breeding and behavior.
