Below is the list of the main work and responsibilities of an Editor:

1. The editors have to get the main story from the writer and work on it. They usually take some time to understand the various aspects of it and then provide their feedback on it. If any changes are required, they request the writers to make the necessary changes.

2. The editors have to correct the technical errors in the writing including the grammatical mistakes and the inappropriate usage of the language. They also have to verify the facts and figures being mentioned in the story. This is very important as it's the editors who are responsible if there is discrepancy in the information. They have to be careful about it.

3. They have to coordinate with their various team members in order to complete the tasks. They are responsible to meet the deadlines and therefore they make the schedule and decide the deadlines. They also assign the tasks to their juniors and other team members and ensure that the work is done on time with great accuracy.

4. The editors arrange team meetings and also with the management. These meetings are crucial as most of the important decisions are made in such meetings and also the roles are decided in them only. They make sure from time to time that work is right on progress and everything is in the place. They have to be good at their management skills to do well.

5. They do the research and gather the right information. They take the help of other team members in this kind of work. They have to ensure that all the information is correct. Sometimes they have to interview certain people also. This is crucial part of their job. To meet the right people and get the facts right. They reach out to the right resources and extract the value out of them.

Therefore there are many works and responsibilities on the shoulders of an editor and they have to do all that with perfection and in time.
