Veterinarians deals with small or big animals, in rural or urban settings. They may get associated with government departments, as in the animal husbandry department or they may be with dairy or poultry farms, they could get into private practice or teaching in veterinary colleges or may be involved in research programmes swponsored by the government or private companies dealing with pharmaceutical products and or livestock feed. In general private practice, veterinarians look after and treat animals at their clinics or at farms , houses. Animal husbandry department of the state governments or the ventral government appoint veterinarians to deal with the prevention and control of diseases in dairy and poultry farms managed by the government They also can take up jobs in technical sales, agri business, marketing, pet food manufacxturing industries and in management of industries dealing with animals feed, animal products, milk and meat product processing indutries. Research work is carried out by researchers. Depending on their areas of specialization, veterinarians in research study the causes and prevention of animal diseases, development , production and use of biologoical products for the diagnosis of animal diseases and immunization against them, effects of modern nutritional food on animal health and production, animal genetics and breeding & vet pathology.
