The only field engineering that makes an individual technically equipped while instilling efficient management techniques is industrial engineering. Industrial engineering is all about designing and managing methods and procedures to increase productivity, quality and efficiency in manufacturing process. The increasing complexity of industrial operations and the expansion of automated processes in factories and offices is contributing to the demand for industrial engineers. In today's troubled times, companies are trying to cut costs and improve efficiency. Most of them choose to hire skilled and efficient industrial engineers. Industrial engineers can find employment with manufacturing units. consumer electronics industry, medical and pharmaceutical units, textiles industry, information technology , public sector industries like petroleum, steel and chemical industry, private consultancy firms and research and development establishment of big companies. Their work involves determining the suitability of locations for factories depending on the best combination of raw material availability , transportation and costs , determining the most effective layout for computers, assisting the management in making decision related to manufacturing process and taking decision in regard to automating a production process. They also aid in financial planning and cost analysis, designing production systems as well as quality control procedures. They are responsible for designing better methods and facilities for manufacturing and services as well.
