Prospects for public relations personnel with the right personality are promising. Public relations professionals are usually graduates with a broad general understanding of social, cultural, economic and political affairs, Following up graduation with a 1 year post graduate diploma in public relations or a two years post graduate degree in mass communication/ public relations would be useful to make a career as public relations professional. Admission to such courses is generally on the basis of the results of an entrance test and interview.



The PR professional can work for high profile personalities.Their main work while working for high profile personalities involves establishing relationships with people working in radio, television, print etc. to inform them about the client's work and achievements. They also perform damage control , attempting to counteract any undesirable press coverage the client receives.




All types of organizations , whether educational, social, political , commercial or government have in house public relations department . The work of in house public relation department involves originating and implementing a public elation program geared to its management's requirements.



The public relations officers would keep an eye on public opinion about the organization , develop and implement communication strategies for the organization, advise management on communication issues and strategies , respond to inquiries from the public , media and other organizations, arrange interviews with journalists, prepare and distribute news releases and make statements to the media, write , edit and arrange the production of newsletters, in-house magazines, pamphlets and brochures , assist in preparing organizational documents such as annual reports and corporate profiles, write speeches, prepare visual aids and make public presentations, oversee production of visual, audio and electronic material, including managing websites, organize special events such as visits, exhibitions and functions, conduct workshops and media training internally and manage a company or organizations' response to important issues and in times of crisis. The Pr professional plays an important role in politics as well.
