Ayurvedic treatments are person specific rather than disorder specific. The age of patient, the climate in which he lives, his cultural and social surroundings and his bodily constitution are taken into account before prognosis. Touch , inspection and interrogation are the main tools of diagnosis. Then the physician emphasizes a regimen of diet with the use of herbal medicines. Herbs are used to eliminate excesses and strengthen deficiencies. Their primary function is to stimulate particular organic functions. Thus ayurvedaaims to solve many health problems;only through the adjustment of diet, so there are no side effects.Ayurveda practioners follow a non-invasive cure procedure. They examine patients by cross examination, vision, pulse rate etc. Ayurvedic practionersgenerally begin by taking a comprehensive personal and medical history to determine the patient;s physical and spiritualtype and then prescribe treatment accordingly.

Practionerscan find employment as medical officer/doctor at government and private ayurvedic hospitals, charitable institutions, medical colleges and training institutes. Many may take up private practice open their own retail shop of ayurvedicmedicines. They can also find employment as supervisors in Panch Karma. Ayurvedic doctors can work in industries engaged in ayurvedic preparations. He can also work as professor in ayurvedic colleges or do research.
