There are a number of skills that you would need as a fresher so that you can get a good job as a dietitian. You need to master those skills so that you can impress the employers and get the job after which you can excel in this career. Below is the list of the important skills that will help you out in getting the right job of a dietitian:


1. Your research skills have to be of top quality. This is because as a dietitian you will be working on the innovative techniques and the products that could add a great value to the health of an individual. Without doing the rigorous research on it, you may not be able to create that great innovation which will help other people.

2. Your problem solving skills should be excellent. The dietitians need to constantly work on the health problems that people are facing in their lives. The way you approach their problems will determine the solution and hence the cure. You need to be a very good problem solver to excel in this job.

3. The interpersonal skills of a dietitian has to be very good. They have to work with a number of people in their profession. The researchers need their assistance all the time and the clients also need great help from them. They need to be able to nicely coordinate with the people and make it easy to get along with them.

4. The dietitians need to have very good communication skills. This is because they need to interact with the clients on the regular basis and they cannot afford to cause any mistake in their communications. They also need to communicate with other professionals in their work and therefore need to have that ability to communicate really well so that they can effectively contribute towards their work and provide the great value as a dietitian.

Therefore the skill requirement if fulfilled will get you a wonderful job. But remember that you need to be able to work on them patiently as they take quite a lot of time to develop.

At least you need to have Bachelor degrees of food/nutrition/dietics/food services management system. From any disciline of science degree they can do diploma in foods and nuritions. a dietician can act in many ways:

  • as an associate of doctors
  • Nutritionist
  • can run their own dietery centre
  • can focus in renal and padiatric diatics
  • other can choose a career in pharmaceutical/food manufacturers etc.

Nowadays dietician is a need for community people.

They need to have good communication skill, good openness, can understand others' psychology/emotion, analytical skil. S/He should have genuine interest in the subject and also in cooking; for independent practice s/he should be enterprising .
