To excel as nanotechnologist one should have a scientific bent of mind, analytical thinking, logical nature, natural propensity for research work . An inquistive mind with good programminmg skills . One should also have good amount of knowledge about various fields sinve nanotechnology has its application in diverse fields. One should be patient and hardworking as one has to spend long hours in the laboratory and be engaged in research work.

Nanotechnologists deal with reducting material into nanosize and observing the changes in their properties and behavior.e.g. metals such as gold which is chemically inert at normal scale can serve as potent chemical catalyst at nanoscales. Nanotechnologists are also involved in assembling individual atoms into a desired molecule so as to evolve molecular-levl machines and this is being used to make nanomaterial such as carbon nanotubes and nanoparticles.One can become quatum support specialist, mass spectrometer specialist, electronic structure specialist etc.
