Being a doctor is not a pie of everyone's plate. Not everyone can become a successful doctor. There are some skills and knowledge you need to possess in order to become one. These skills can never be put under one category. The medical field is such a wide field where a doctor is assumed to deal with each situation effectively. A  doctor has to play different roles in different situations. Some of the skills required to become a good doctor are to be learned in the medical schools whereas some of the skills have to be within you. These skills can never be taught. These are inside you. Following are some of the skills you need to possess to become a successful doctor. You need not possess all of these skills. This will help you identify yourself and calculate your ability to become a doctor. So with how many of these do you identify yourself with?

Scientific Skills

These skills are taught to you in a school environment. These skills are reflected through the amount of time you spend while learning in school and the amount of knowledge you gain about human body throughout the learning process. Scientific skills may include skills relating to science, diagnosis, and treatment. A good doctor must have the ability to correctly diagnose the cause of illness of the patient and treat it. To win over the fields of diagnosis and treatment, you should focus on the subjects of human sciences, such as biology, human anatomy, and biochemistry during their study at medical school.

Communication Skills

What if you have all the knowledge available in the world but not the ability to put yourself forward? Good communication skills are a must to survive in today's competitive world. If you want to be a successful doctor, you should have the ability to talk to the patients and make them comfortable so that they are able to discuss with you all their problems. You should use a language that is easily understood by the patient. If you fail in possessing this skill, this communication gap will result in you not understanding the patient. This will lead you failing in performing the treatment and hence failing as a doctor!

Now we would be discussing some of the natural skills that must be there in a good doctor. You are not as perfect as possessing all of these skills but this will help you identify yourself and where you stand.

• A concern for people: Do you ever feel hurt by seeing someone else in pain? Do you ever feel to do something for the people in pain? If yes, then being a doctor is 'the' career for you. And believe me, you will become a successful doctor!
• Stress!:Do you have the skill of handling stress? Or let me correct myself, extreme stress? Pardon the words but a doctor has to handle pressure equal to that of a pressure cooker. You need have the ability of handle pressure or your dream of becoming a successful doctor would vanish away!
• Decisiveness: Many situations will come throughout your doctor career where you would have to take decisions for yourself and also on the behalf of some other people. Your decisions will also sometimes have a direct impact on other people's lives. So you should have the skill to take correct decisions under delicate circumstances in order to become a successful doctor.
• Exposed mind: Do you have the skill to understand people and get along with everyone irrespective of which background they come from? You will face people with varied attitudesand backgrounds. A successful doctor will tackle each and every patient equally.
• Always know your limitations: This is a skill that is required by not only a doctor but for all the human beings. You should have the ability to identify your own limitations and should never hesitate to ask for help from anyone no matter whether they are superior to you or inferior to you.
• Creative Mind: Creativity is not only for an art A successful doctor always uses this skill in order to find different solutions for a particular problem. This is always helpful as all human bodies are not same. You would have to find different ways of treating different people.
