Computer Engineers work at different timings depending on their industry, company and kind of projects they are involved in.

If you go by typical IT industry scenario, most companies expect you to work for 8-9 hours for five days a week. That again varies on the work season, project scenario and your team. But again you should be ready to work for atleast 40-50 hours a week.

Talking about flexible timings - yes you will enjoy flexible timings in most companies. But you have to inform your team leads and your manager. It depends on your team at what time they are comfortable to stay at the work place. Most times it is settled informally by the team members. And you enjoy the luxury of working with flexible timings.

You also get the flexibility in terms of location. Many companies do let you work from home if you have soem work at home, or you just want to stay back ...

About the night shifts - there is yes and there is no. Yes because there will be times when you will be expected to work late night. It happens more in the service industry where you are working for US clients. But then if you are really uncomfortable about it then you should talk to your Boss and see if something can be done. Companies often take care of female professionals and hardly let them do the night shifts. But as a professional you should be ready for it.
