Most of the industries nowadays use the chemicals in everything directly or indirectly like in food products, pharmaceuticals, electronic products or in construction. This creates opportunities for graduates, since they have the in-depth knowledge about various chemicals, compositions and their properties. The government laboratories, universities or colleges and the industries, mainly chemical and pharmaceutical, are the three major sectors which recruit the chemistry graduates. For the entry level jobs in these fields, graduates need at least a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. But for the senior positions like in research, they need PhD in the same.

In an overview:

Some of the fields you can go into:

  • Analytical Chemist

  • Bio-medical Chemist

  • Chemical Engineering Associate

  • Industrial Research Scientist

  • Lab Chemist

  • Materials Technologist

  • Production Chemist

  • Production Officer

  • Quality Controller

  • R&D Director

  • Research & Development Manager

  • Safety Health and Environment Specialist

All the Best!

Dear Aspirant,

After BSc Chemistry, you can search for jobs in chemical industries, pharmaceutical companies, industrial units, petrochemical companies, etc. However, if you do not find good opportunities, then I would suggest that you should pursue a Masters in Chemistry. If you are interested in teaching, then also there is a good scope in education sector.

Some type of job profiles available for Chemistry post graduates are as follows:

  • Analytical Chemist

  • Bio-medical Chemist

  • Chemical Engineering Associate

  • Industrial Research Scientist

  • Lab Chemist

  • Materials Technologist

  • Production Chemist

  • Production Officer

  • Quality Controller

Best wishes

You can take up any specific course after B.Sc as there are lots of options. If interested to continue your studies in the same field, join for M.Sc course. A management oriented career line is also possible by opting MBA course. MCA is another feasible course option after B.Sc. For PG course admission, it is essential to clear entrance exams. LLB can also be opted after B.Sc provided you qualify CLAT exam. So, from the given set of course options, you can select the best one as per your interest area. So, if you are interested in continuing this as your passion , I would suggest you to go with M.Sc courses.
