What careers can I look into in the development/social sector?

I am interested in the development sector, primarily in education. Are there any career lines that I can take up ? I am an engineering graduate.

Interesting.

You wish to excel in the area of education or developmental sector, despite being an engineering graduate.

Mainly you could look out for a CSR or Corporate Social responsibility job. Here you work in a corporate NGO work activity. In a way, you can work as an engineer in the organization as well as live your dream of social development

There is no fixed qualification, one needs to work in the developmental area.
Only certain qualities one needs are:
  • Passion
  • Compassionate feelings
  • Being Empathetic
  • Selfless giver

  • Extra time
  • Working for a Cause
A little knowledge on how society works, what are the major issues being faced in the society and how is it being dealt with or rather who are the people actively involved in the work is important.
Also skills of counseling, whereby just being a listener rather than being sympathetic can help you a lot in this field.

Apart from that, a skill of creativity and innovation is very important. Dealing with issues in a different manner and still getting results is important.

You could also use your degree to begin teaching kids and working for the cause of education.

Hope this answers your question...

Wish you good luck....
